First of all you need to have a provisional
driving licence,
you can apply for one from the age of
16,
provisional licence forms are called D1 forms
and are available from most Post Offices.
You need to include 2 passport photo’s as
all provisional licences
are now issued with a photo card
licence.
You need to be 17 or over to start driving lessons
.
You must be able to read in good daylight a vehicle number plate with letters
79.4mm (3.1 in) high at a minimum distance of 20.5 metres,
if you need glasses or contact lenses to do this, you will need to wear them while
driving
The theory test is made up of two parts; the multiple choice part and the
hazard perception part. You need to pass both parts to pass the theory test.
Once you have passed the theory test you can then apply
to take your practical driving test.
